Remember when instruction was given about no longer saying New World order ....it was to be New System of things instead . Conventions versus Assemblies .

Jehovah's Witnesses and the Rh Factor
by Dogpatch injehovah's witnesses and the rh factor.
written by marlene mercado wednesday, 31 january 1996; revised 2012. .
i want to share with our readers an experience i had when two jehovah's witness elders came to my home to enlighten me regarding the new "technology" that allows for the taking of certain blood fractions with a clean conscience.

I am Rh-neg , and our first son was born in 1981 Rh + . I researched all the JW literature ,was thoroughly confused on what was the correct understanding . To me no blood meant no blood .....so I refused to take the shot . I was very young 20 at the time, and wanted to do what was right in God's eyes. We had two more rh positive children after that ,and thankfully they were heathly .
What a highly dangerous decsion I made ....i put my children's life in grave possible harm because of misguided religious belief .

That doesn't sound right ,having to interview in order to go to an international ???? We had a group from our old hall go several yrs ago ,and it was all approved through letters of recommendation by BOE and CO/DO . Sounds like she is making excuses, because she wanted extra time off for volunteer business maybe @BEthel ...

The Worst jw Is Better Than The BEST Worldly Person
by TOTH indid anyone else used to hear this?
i can remember this growing up in the 1970s.
my folks joined the wt back in 1968 under threat of armageddon coming in 1975. i was in first grade and ran the gauntlet of no flag salute, national anthem, holidays and no worldly friends.

Oh yes I heard those very same words as I grew up . I also grew up in the same era as you TOTH . I could have friends at school ,but was not allowed to go to any of their homes after school and they were not welcome at our home either .
When I was in jr high a girl my age finally moved into our congregation .....so immediately she was my ready made best friend because she was a JW . Just because she was a JW she was immediately suppose to be better than any of my school friends . Yeah she was a great influence ...smoked, taught me how to get beer, and introduced me to older boys in her neighborhood .......

How did you visualize Jehovah when you were young?
by Matsimus ini was born as a third generation (perhaps even fourth gen. but my great great grandfather never got baptized) jw.
i remember that when i was young, perhaps about five years old, i would think about jehovah as this big black ghost with yellow eyes.
to me he was quite frightening, and i was constantly catious not to piss him off.

As a kid I thought of him as an old mean man with long white beard (Gandolf ?) plus the Paradise Lost book was a horrible visual aid for little kids to learn about God . As I got a little older (after the little pink book for kids came out ) I liked the idea of Jesus being kind ,gentle and approachable ,but Jehovah was still always mean .

JW's 'put off living'
by Lady Viola ini was reading a book and read the following quote:.
"one of the most tragic things i know about human nature is.
that all of us tend to put off living.

So sad ,and so true ! I was asked by a psychologist, "What were my hopes and dreams ?" ....I could not answer because as a young child I learned to squash everyone of those thoughts before they matured . He could not understand when I tried to explain to him how my thinking had been affected becuse of the JW religion .
I have a hard time even now following through with an interest ,but I am trying .

I don't like "taking the lead"
by I Want to Believe insome men probably got off on the power/ego trip being a male jw gets you, but i never cared for it.
i'm an introvert, and was an especially awkward one at that haveing been reaised in social isolation, so it was about the strangest feeling in the world when as a newly-baptized teenager (back in the day) i started to pioneer.
i was about as green as you could get in every way but i was told i had to take the lead in the service meetings and the car group.

I don't like being led !! Rebel , I too have always been more of a leader than a follower ,given the chance I will takeover ! Sorry can't help it .
Having a man tell me which door to knock on never really mattered ,but OMG having a teenager trying to make car groups could make me crazy . Some of the 'brothers' were just as bad ....I more than once spoke up and said how about if we did it this way instead :) ALWAYS with a smile and subordinate manner .

Should you ever tell tour aging parents the truth about the truth
by Star tiger insince finding out the truth about the truth myself and having successfully extricated myself and my parents about the jw's, i find myself with a new dilema that being they still believe the bible as a literal book for their salvation as i has read all of thomas paines works and how the bible is not very good for the human family, as they are of advancing years would it be inappropriate to shatter their illusions of some kind of paradise and let them flounder in a moral precipice and wonder what their lives have been about.
on the flip side once their time has come how would i feel for not telling them their false views.
at the moment i am in the deist point of view, with a tendency of the agnostic, it is quite a dilema!.

You have done a good thing getting them out of a distructive cult ...after that everyone should be free to believe as they wish . All being said NO ONE can PROVE what there is after we die so don't push the issue with them . Let them believe what ever comforts them in their old age .
